Catching waves with a Balinese surfer

Last week, Surf Mei Mei was in Bali to catch some waves. We had the pleasure of interviewing our local surf guide Jambul who started surfing when he was only 7 years old!

How did you pick up surfing?
People used to leave their broken boards at my home break. My friends and I had no idea what they were for so we would just lie on them and play with the waves. In fact, someone had to tell us we were supposed to stand on them to catch waves. Luckily, my friends and I eventually met a few local legends who taught us how to surf at my beach.
